Two Short Christmas Reflections from Cardinal Newman

Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman is especially revered in the Ordinariate for his personal history: although raised in the evangelical wing of the Anglican church he became one of the Anglican Divines who founded the Oxford Movement in the mid-Nineteenth century (which sought to restore Catholic practice within Anglicanism) and, as a result of his studies, became convinced he needed to reunite himself to the universal Catholic Church. As such, he is a principal fore-runner of the establishment of the Ordinariates by Pope Benedict the Sixteenth. The lay-founded and run Catholic multi-lingual media organization ALETEIA has chosen two brief meditations from Cardinal Newman for one of today’s postings; they are well worth reading.
