The Ordinariate is Eight — Happy Birthday!

Our community’s good friend Brother Rex Norris reminds us today is the eighth anniversary of the signing and promulgation of Anglicanorum Coetibus, the Apostolic Constitution erecting the structure for the Ordinariate within the Church. The first actual Ordinariate to be erected was that of Our Lady of Walsingham, for England and Wales, in 2011; our own — the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter — came the following year, in January of 2012; and the third currently established, for Australia, is that of Our Lady of the Southern Cross, erected in June the same year. Please remember good Pope Benedict; Bishop Lopes and his fellow Ordinaries Monsignor Keith Newton and Monsignor Harry Entwistle; and all the clergy and staff of the Ordinariate in your prayers. AD MULTOS ANNOS!
